We are far from the '80s, but tonight's season opener against Oral Roberts was nothing short of bringing Miner fans back to the future...

In the first half, UTEP went toe-to-toe with what was supposed to be a tough opener as Oral Roberts hooked up 27 wins last season in the Southland Conference.

Come second half, the Washburn brothers came through with sick plays and unselfish balling giving the Miners a steady lead.
Freshman Forward, Chris Washburn, might just be the Allen Iverson the Miners have been looking for. What do I mean? There's been a lot of questions regarding his abilities and this newcomer might just be the answer.
Bottom-line, UTEP looks good. If they plan to bring the '80s back, a few banners might just come with the territory.

The Washburn's maybe taking after their father, Chris Washburn Sr., who had a star-studded college career and was drafted by the Golden State Warriors as the number three overall pick in 1986.
Tease your hair, make your cell phone bigger, put an antenna on your television for giggles and hook up your room with a lava lamp -- because Miner Ball is back.
