Normally a 3-1 football team would be enough incentive for a UTEP fan base starving for a winner to come watch to the Sun Bowl and watch the Miners play their next game. Thanks to Speaking Rock, some fans will leave Saturday night's game against Old Dominion with considerably more money than they arrived with.

UTEP announced that Speaking Rock will give away $1,000 to a lucky Miner fan every time the team scores a touchdown and $500 for every field goal kicked against the Monarchs. The best part of this promotion is that it will continue for the remaining four home games during the 2021 football season. Winners will be determined by seat location, and they must be present to receive the cash giveaway.

"We are excited to be a proud sponsor of UTEP Athletics and wish continued success for our team," Speaking Rock General Manager Karl Maahs said in the official release. "We feel this promotion will add to the excitement and encourage Miner Nation to come out and support UTEP Football. Let’s get loud!"

There are still three days left before Saturday night's game against ODU, but judging from the screen shots of the Sun Bowl seat map, there are PLENTY of tickets available. I was surprised by how many blue dots (unsold tickets) were in the west (pressbox) side of the Sun Bowl. It is clear that El Pasoans are slow to react to the Miners winning record and homecoming game on Saturday to purchase tickets against the Monarchs.

Despite the low presale, UTEP has seen strong walk-up crowds before and this weekend could be another example of last minute purchases for Miner fans. To avoid any potential lines on game day, tickets are available by calling (915) 747-8837 or by visiting www.utepminers.com/tickets.

UTEP Football Sweeps New Mexico With 20-13 Win Over UNM

The UTEP football team defeated NMSU and UNM for the first time since 2014 after a big second half comeback gave the Miners a 20-13 win over the Lobos Saturday night in front of 15,069 fans at the Sun Bowl.
