El Paso Locomotive FC defeated Real Monarchs in Utah on Saturday night by the score of 1-0 to obtain their first victory on the road in this abbreviated and altered 2020 season of the USL Championship. The win solidifies the Locos second place position in their group, Group C with 11 point after 7 matches as a result of 3 wins, 2 draws and 2 loses.

The lone goal in the match came in the 51 minute when a cross from the left flank by Aaron Gomez was sent to Nick Ross who placed it on the right side of the goal for the match’s only score.

The match was one that was highly contested and one that the Locomotive played in a very diligent manner which is vital to get wins on the road. El Paso’s defensive line held steadfast and they and Logan Ketterer were able to get the clean sheet which is something that is incredibly important to the entire team and head coach Mark Lowry.

It is safe to assume that the victory served as a bit of revenge for the team from “the 915” for their loss in the Western Conference Finals last fall against the Monarchs.

Up next for the Locomotive will be another road match against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks. The match is scheduled for next Saturday, August 22nd and is scheduled for a 6 p.m. MST kickoff.
