I've never been a fan of soap operas, but the first time I saw a 'Dark Shadows' rerun on the Sci-Fi channel I was hooked.  Dark Shadows had everything:  eerie music, the supernatural, time travel, and parallel universes.  The highly dramatic acting, bizarre characters, numerous plot twists, and gothic sets kept the show engaging.

Later this year, a film version of the old television show will be released.  Tim Burton directed it, and Johnny Depp will star as Barnabas Collins, the man condemned to spend eternity as a vampire.  It looks like Burton's adaptation will be much more campy and humorous than the original show, but it should be great.

'Dark Shadows' will be coming to a theater near you in May.

I just hope the film finds a way to incorporate the amazing theme song
