Jerry Jones did say that he wants Ezekiel Elliott for this season's playoff run. And now it seems he wants that because he isn't too confident they'll get Zeke signed soon.

I'm operating as though right now he's going to miss regular-season games. My entire expectation for what we're putting together as a team right now would anticipate with him holding out and not having any training camp that he's going to miss games. I just accept that.

Considering the Cowboy's regular season starts on September 8th, even if the team were to sign Zeke now, it wouldn't be likely he'd be ready to go week 1. And that's considering he's been down in Cabo training with Marshall Faulk.

The Cowboys first three games are against the Giants, Redskins, and Dolphins. Three winnable games, even without Zeke. But after that, they're going to need their star running back if they are going to make a solid playoff run.
