What’s Open and Closed in El Paso on the Fourth of July 2023
City of El Paso and El Paso County administrative offices will be closed Tuesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. City museums, libraries, recreation centers, senior centers, and aquatic centers will be, too.
Some services, however, will remain open or operate on reduced hours on the national holiday. You'll find details below.
It will be business as usual on Monday, July 3, and all city and county offices and services will resume normal hours on Wednesday, July 5.

·El Paso Water Parks: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
·Spray Parks: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
·Animal Services Main Shelter (5001 Fred Wilson): 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
·Animal Services Tails at the Times (501 E. Mills): noon to 2 p.m.
·Animal Services Mission Valley (9068 Socorro): noon to 2 p.m.
City of El Paso Environmental Services
Trash collection will remain on regular schedule. If Tuesday is your trash day, put your bins out. Additionally, all Citizen Collection Stations and the Greater El Paso Landfill will be open
Sun Metro
Sun Metro’s fixed routes and paratransit services will run on its Sunday/Holiday schedule. Check affected routes HERE.
Stores and Restaurants
If you’re planning on shopping or dining out, most stores, restaurants, shopping centers, and malls are typically open.
However, some may be operating on holiday schedule with limited or reduced hours of operation while others -- such as locally owned small businesses -- may be closed. Call to confirm before heading out.
State and Federal
Independence Day is a federal holiday. All state and federal offices/buildings will be closed.
Banks and Postal Service
Banks and other financial institutions along with the United States Post Office will be closed. There will not be any mail delivery on Tuesday, and any banking will have to be conducted online or at an ATM.
