No more pencils, no more books, no more teachers' dirty looks.

It's that time of the year again. The time of the year that can be summed up in four words parents dread and teachers love: school's out for summer!

Summer off from school isn’t the same as it used to be, though. Most notable is the number of days for sleeping in and gaming without having to worry about an assignment due.

After transitioning to a year-round school calendar in 2020, the three-month-long summer break of Yore has been reduced to an eight-week summer break.

Summer: Parents vs Teachers

We asked parents in El Paso what they were least looking forward to about their kid's summer break.

• "Making 3 meals a day and the snacks in between meals"
• "The grocery bill"
• "I'm bored” & 'I'm hungry” every 10 minutes"
• "My house not being as tidy as I want it"
• "Having my kids home. All. Day."

El Paso-area teachers were a lot more stoked about the summer break. Here's a collection of what some of them told us they were most looking forward to this summer.

• "Eating at normal pace and being able to pee as I need!"
• "Peace and quiet! Lots of Netflix"
• "Sleeping past 7a"
• "Enjoying my coffee… while it’s still hot"
• "Not dealing with your kids"

Oh, snap! That last one. But, yeah, it's a fair statement.
