Leave it to TikTok to show us all a dumb new trend. I got sucked into this new viral trend all because of my horrible sleep schedule!

The newest trend/recipe to go viral is called the "Sleepy Girl Mocktail". And I tried it so you won't have to! The recipe is simple- tart cherry juice, magnesium powder and sparkling water.

The combination of the cherry juice and the magnesium powder is suppose to help you fall asleep faster when taken before bed. Check out how to make it below.

This article helps break down why this "sleepy girl mocktail" may help you fall asleep faster. Tart cherry juice contains melatonin, which is a natural sleep hormone. As for the magnesium powder, well scientists are still studying how it can help with your sleep but they do think that magnesium powder helps relax your nervous system so you can relax at bedtime.

As someone who has to wake up at 4 AM, I thought it wouldn't hurt to try this. So off I went to find the ingredients. First of all, tart cherry juice is expensive! Despite its hefty price tag, I did have a hard time finding it- it was sold out at the first two stores I went to; I guess other people had heard of the sleepy girl mocktail too. But I did find one!

Second of all, magnesium powder is also a bit difficult to find- but I got it. The sparkling water I already had.

The results? Well, it wasn't a bad tasting drink, but I really didn't see a difference in my sleep. I did have very vivid dreams, but that could have been the melatonin. My one experience with melatonin went the same way. Should you try it? Maybe. Maybe you'll get a better experience than me or maybe you'll just end up having crazy dreams like I did.
