There's nothing quite like food cooked over an open flame. Whether you're cooking on a gas stove or lighting up the barbecue for the weekend's grilling, controlling the flame is part of cooking. Right now, there's a push to change that, even in Arizona.

China and India are the biggest contributors to global pollution. In spite of that, lawmakers across the United States are trying to ban gas appliances.

Citing global climate change, the ban could spread from California and New York to other states; however, Arizona is resisting this trend.

Critics say banning these appliances would be catastrophic for industry and consumers alike. A sudden ban would send shockwaves throughout the economy, raising prices across the board.

Protecting Gas Appliances in Arizona: Arizona Bill HCR2050

Arizona legislators are pushing back against a national ban with HCR2050. If this bill passes, it would "prohibit a city, town, county, or political subdivision from restricting the manufacture, use, or sale of a device based on the energy source that is either used to power the device or consumed by the device."

If this is enacted into law, it could influence Arizona's energy policy. If passed, the bill would create an amendment to the Arizona constitution that would protect gas devices like propane barbecues and other appliances from government restrictions - at least those passed in Arizona.
