Ever since Incredible Technologies developed the first arcade version of Golden Tee in 1989, golf lovers were hooked. The idea of playing realistic virtual golf with terrific simulation was a no-brainer. Bars became the most popular landing spots for Golden Tee, and mastering the trackball will make all the difference in the world when a player needs to add distance or spin to their shot.

Last week, Golden Tee started teasing a new portable cabinet game on social media and as expected, the reaction would overwhelmingly positive. Golden Tee GO features a control panel nearly identical to the arcade version, including the Happ trackball. As far the screen, players will have the option to use the 15.6' monitor or connect to a larger HDTV with a HDMI out included in the portable device. Golden Tee GO will accommodate one to four players with three modes: 18 holes, Closest to the Pin, and Skins play. It will also have a total of 32 Golden Tee courses from 2013 to 2018. There will be no online play unlike the LIVE version introduced 15 years ago. However, many of the same features that arcade fans have grown to love will be on the GO model.

The big question on the minds of many will be the price tag. Golden Tee GO will run you about $2k, which is about half the price of the large arcade game. It is also only 25 pounds and easy to lug around with handles on the side. No word yet on the release date, although Golden Tee Golf did say on social media that a limited number of their new GO games will be produced. If you cannot afford to splurge on the portable cabinet there is always the free mobile game to download for Apple and Android devices.
