The arrival of head coach Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti to FC Juarez was without a doubt the biggest news of this offseason in all of Mexican soccer. The hire has projected the Bravos to the forefront of the soccer news cycle and therefore the exceptions for the team that finished in the last places of the standings last season have grown exponentially.

FC Juarez will begin their 2021 Apertura season tonight when they host Toluca at Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium. Toluca is one of the few teams that the Bravos have a winning record against since they moved up to first division. These two teams have faced each other 5 times and the Bravos have defeated Toluca four times and had one draw.

Needless to say, tonight's match will be one that all fans of Mexcian soccer will have their eyes on simply because it will be the debut of Ferretti at the helm of the team from the Borderland.

Recently, 600 ESPN El Paso spoke with former FC Juarez and current El Paso Locomotive FC players Eder Borelli and Leandro Carrijo on their thoughts of the arrival of Ferretti to Juarez.

Both Borelli and Carrijo were founding players with FC Juarez when the franchise was born in 2015 and were with the team up until last season.

Borelli commented, “As a fan of the team, it makes me very happy. I was fortunate to play for “Tuca” for two and half years. He is a person of strong character who puts order into all aspects of the teams he coaches and I believe that this is what Bravos has been needing, order and a higher degree of seriousness. With him arriving along with (new team president) Miguel Angel Garza and (new assistant coach) Rafael Puente Jr it is going to be nothing but good for the team.”

The El Paso Locomotive star fullback concluded by commenting on the need for players that feel and have a profound love for the Bravos jersey.

Borelli said, "I know I identified myself with the jersey, the people and the region immediately when I arrived (in 2015) and the fan base and ownership group reciprocated those feelings as well and the only way that happens is by showing a genuine and sincere caring for region and the club. A player has to be aware that they are arriving at a club that gives a lot of importance to the city and its people from a social and philanthropic standpoint. By doing that he is going to represent the people of the city who are characterized as tough and hard working."

Leandro Carrijo, the Bravos all-time leading goal scored who is now a forward for the Locomotive (making 22 appearance, had 3 goals and 2 assists) echoed similar sentiments regarding the arrival of “Tuca” Ferretti.

Carrijo commented, "Ferretti arrives to Bravos with his vision very clear and his eyes set on what is the situation with FC Juarez. He knows Liga MX very well and he also knows what he is going to need to succeed with Bravos. He undoubtedly will have the support of the ownership group and it would not surprise me if the Bravos have a quick turnaround and great things come this coming season."

Tonight’s match against Toluca is scheduled to kickoff at 8 pm and will be televised nationally on TUDN DirecTV ch. 464/ Spectrum ch. 444.
