Kyle Kraska, a former sportscaster at KVIA-TV, was recovering tonight in a San Diego-area hospital after being shot multiple times this afternoon. Kraska, who has been the main sports anchor at CBS News 8 KFMB-TV in San Diego since 2003, was in his Mercedes when shots were fired into his rear window. According to CBS News 8, the confrontation then led to the street in front of Kraska's home. More gunshots were fired and the longtime sportscaster was lying face-down in the street after being shot. CBS News 8 said that Kraska, who was attended to by neighbors including a nurse, was alert and responsive when he was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital.

Kraska worked at KVIA-TV between 1991 and 1992 and was covering the UTEP basketball team during the 1992 NCAA Tournament when they upset Kansas to advance to the Sweet 16.
