FC Juarez Names Guillermo Cantu New Executive President
Earlier today in press conference held in Ciudad Juarez, FC Juarez announced that Guillermo Cantu would be the new Executive President for FC Juarez. The press conference and this announcement was certainly important as Alejandra De La Vega, Paul Foster and Josh Hunt from MountainStar Sports Group were all in attendance.
Who is Guillermo Cantu you ask and why does this sound like a big deal? Well let’s just put this way, Guillermo Cantu is to Mexican soccer what Jerry West, Pat Riley and Jerry Krause are to the NBA. Having them in your front office immediately brings a different level of credibility and status to a franchise. This is what Cantu has done for the Bravos as the news traveled nationally across Mexico earlier today.
Guillermo Cantu’s most notable role was that of Director of National Teams for the Mexican Soccer Federation from 2004-2009. Cantu commented after being introduced by Alejandra De La Vega that he was happy to be back working in the northern part of Mexico and called his new role with the team from the Borderland a “great and interesting challenge”.
FC Juarez begins the 2020 Clausura season this coming Saturday against the most popular team in Mexico, Chivas. The match will take place in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm MST
