Bravos de FC Juarez suffered their third defeat of the 2022 clausura season last Friday losing to Tigres by the score of 3-2. The Bravos remain with seven points on the season after six games and are currently in 12th place in the general standings table, 12th place is the last playoff spot.

However, make no mistake about it, the 3-2 score line for the Bravos match against Tigres is extremely deceiving as the match was anything but close. Tigres took a 3-0 lead into the locker room after absolutely dominating a Bravos team that for the third consecutive game struggled to execute, looking particularly bad in the process….and that’s putting mildly.

Florian Thauvin scored, opening the scoreline for Tigres in the 15th minute of play. Andre-Pierre Gignac scored two minutes later. Gignac also went on to score in the 43rd minute.

FC Juarez scored both of their goals in the second half, Fernando Arce scored in the 62nd minute (via a header) and Alejandro Arribas (via a header) scored in stoppage time (92nd minute). Despite scoring two goals in the second half, it can’t be said that Bravos was the better team in the second half. Did they improve? Yes, minimally. Still I don’t think there was much belief in Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium that Bravos could even pull off a tie, much less a win after receiving three goals in the first half.

After the game, a calm, but stoic Ricardo ‘Tuca’ Ferretti spoke with the media. Ferretti said, “In the first half of the game, Tigres was much superior than us. In the second half we were able to even things up a little more on an effort that stemmed from simple pride. We were able to do something worth mentioning in the second half against a team that is one of the favorites to win the title..”

The team from the Borderland will have to turn the page quickly from their most recent dismal performance as tonight they will face Puebla on the road. Puebla is currently in first place and has been the big surprise thus far this season. One of the teams in Liga BBVA MX with one of the lowest payrolls has a total of 17 points on the season in matches as a result of five wins, two draws and zero loses.

The good news for FC Juarez is that their two star forwards, Diego Rolan and Dario Lezcano will be available for tonight's match. Rolan has note been available for the last four games while Lezcano has been injured for months.

Tonight’s match is scheduled to kickoff at 6 p.m. and will be televised only on TV Azteca on digital TV.
