The Minnesota Vikings are going to be without a familiar face on the defensive line moving forward.

On Friday, Everson Griffen officially bid farewell to the Minnesota Vikings and thanked all involved with his journey over the last ten years.

With one of the greatest selections in the history of the organization, Minnesota grabbed Griffen in the 4th a decade ago in the NFL Draft.

Since then, he has exceeded expectations for ten years and was a perfect fit for the Vikings D.

Griffen decided to bet on himself as he opted out of his contract with Minnesota but both sides were unable to come up with a new deal.

It comes as a bit of a surprise as during last months scouting combine in Indianapolis, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer made it a point to say he wanted Griffen back in Minnesota.

As he enters free agency, many will be interested in a player that proved last year that he still has a lot left in the tank.
