Saturday night’s road match just may have a slight theme of revenge for El Paso Locomotive FC. El Paso will face Real Monarchs in Herriman, Utah Saturday night. This will be the first time these two sides meet since their Western Conference Finals match last fall which the Monarchs won in extra time, going on to win the league title.

The Locomotive come into Saturday’s night match currently in second place of group C in the USL Championship, they have 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 loses good enough for 8 points after 6 matches. The Monarchs have 4 points, but it should be noted that they have only have 4 matches in this abbreviated and altered 2020 season.

Because of all of these factors, this match promises to be a highly contested one.

Locos head coach, Mark Lowry, had plenty to say about the team from Utah earlier in the week. Lowry commented, "Salt Lake is a tough place to go to with the altitude. They always do good at home regardless of what team they put on the field. It’s a difficult one to prepare for, because you never know with the MLS 2 teams what lineup they are going to roll out. We have an idea what formation they are going to play, what system they are going to play, but in terms of the personnel its always difficult to know. But for us it’s about building on what we just did, it’s building on what we just did against Phoenix, it’s building on the New Mexico performance. It’s just keep getting better every day, keep developing that format so it goes from 45 minutes of good work, then 70 minutes of good work against Colorado, now can we push that to 90 minutes of good work against Monarchs to get that complete performance."

Saturday’s match is scheduled to kickoff at 8pm MST and will be televised live on ESPN+.
