El Paso Locomotive FC picked up its second win of the season last night when they defeated Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC by the score of 4-2. It was a win for El Paso in which the local talent on their roster was able to shine brightly. The win solidifies the Locos second place position in Group C of the USL Championship. The Locos have 8 points after 6 matches with a record of 2 wins, 2 loses, and 2 draws.

From the opening whistle the Locomotive demonstrated a sense of urgency to get the result on Saturday night at Southwest University Park. No slow start for the Locos last night, as they demonstrated a very proactive offensive stance. That attitude paid off as the Locos took a 1-0 lead in the first 15 minutes when attacking midfielder Dylan Mares scored off of a direct kick.

Six minutes later the team from the 915 would take a 2-0 lead when Aaron Gomez came across a ball at his feet off of an unlucky bounce for the Switchbacks. Gomez would proceed to the opposing goalbox and take a left footed strike from just outside the box to get it past goalkeeper Sean Melvin.

Taking a 2-0 lead into the locker room at halftime, El Paso continued their offensive onslaught in the complimentary 45 minutes. A series of give and go passes triangulated by the Locos in the 66th minute would end with Louis "Chapa" Herrera’s first ever professional goal. An ecstatic Chapa would only have to wait two minutes to feel the euphoria from scoring another goal as he would score the second goal of his professional career when he would receive a cross from fellow El Pasoan Omar Salgado to get his brace for the match.

El Paso would allow 2 goals in the 82 and 91st minutes. These are goals that would only hurt El Paso in the goal differential column.

Up next for the Locos will be a pair of road matches against group rivals Real Monarchs and again against Colorado Springs.
