A few days ago the Iceman had the opportunity to go to Disneyland with his family for Spring Break.  Now I hadn't been to the "happiest place on Earth" since 1996 when I was a junior in high school, but the experience was as memorable as ever.

Some people may wonder how Disneyland and sports come together.  Located in Anaheim, California, Disneyland is a short 3 mile distance from the Honda Center and Angel Stadium of Anaheim.  The Angels are currently in Tempe, Arizona for Spring Training, but the Anaheim Ducks were in town last Wednesday night when the Iceman arrived.

Ironically enough, they hosted my favorite NHL team, the Chicago Blackhawks in front of a record crowd of more than 17,000 fans.  There were numerous people staying at our hotel wearing Blackhawks jerseys.  Anaheim is a suburb of Los Angeles, located just 33 miles from the city of Angels, there are quite a few UCLA and USC fans in the area.

Last  Friday there were countless individuals cheering on UCLA in the NCAA Tournament, but their hearts were broken fast as the Bruins fell to Minnesota 83-63 in the first round of the Big Dance.  Los Angeles will host the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 at the Staples Center this week.

As for our trip to Disneyland, it was phenomenal!  I was fortunate enough to go on most of the classic rides including, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones, Splash Mountain, and Star Tours, just to name a few.  Being there with my family and seeing the joy in my daughter's eyes as they saw it for the first time was something that I will never forget.

Taking a trip to Disneyland is something that every family should do.  You haven't lived until you visit the "happiest place on Earth."  Sports fans can go to Disneyland and catch a hockey, or baseball game in Anaheim, making it the perfect vacation.  It will truly be the trip of a lifetime.
