El Paso movie theaters are back open with, of course, social distancing and face covering guidelines because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but you can finally go to the movies again. Unfortunately because so many first-run movies are being held back from release until people can actually go to theaters without coronavirus pandemic guidelines, a lot of movie theater chains are leaning on classic movies to bring people into theaters.

Fathom Events is working with Turner Classic Movies again to bring an amazing sci-fi film classic to theaters nationwide. Close Encounters of the Third Kind will be shown in theaters here in El Paso this week. You can catch this movie starring Richard Dreyfus as a man who has a close encounter with a space ship and slowly becomes obsessed with the event. Some classic scenes include his character sitting at the dinner table and building a replica of the Devil's Tower in Wyoming out mashed potatoes and then it gets out of control.

This is a movie that you've probably seen at home a million times, but to see it on the big screen it to really appreciate the special effects, the terror at having a close encounter on a lonely road in the middle of the night, and just the amazing story in an of itself.

You can catch Close Encounters of the Third Kind on Tuesday, September 29 and Thursday, October 1 at 7:00 p.m., at the theater at Cielo Vista Mall and at Cinemark 20 & XD at 11855 Gateway Boulevard West. You can click here to find out more information and to buy your tickets online.
