Now that Christmas is in full swing it’s hard to escape the daily deluge of Christmas songs, be it on the radio or in stores. And the more you hear them, the more you realize certain songs just get more annoying every year.

If you were given the power to rid the world of one Christmas song and ensure that neither you nor future generations would not have to endure it ever again, which one would you send to Christmas Song Purgatory?

The question was posed recently to 93.1 KISS-FM listeners on Mike & Tricia Mornings and four songs notably stood out.

Wonderful Christmastime – Paul McCartney

Whether you consider it seasonal ear candy or a cringe-worthy track, "Wonderful Christmastime" tends to enjoy significant airplay this time of the year and not everyone is ok with that.

Ernesto Fernandez
Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney. It's like needles in the ears. Why Paul? Why?

Vanessa Gonzalez
Wonderful Christmas Time…I love Paul McCartney but this song is just Eckkk!!

I'm guessing it gets dissed a lot because it was written by a former Beatle many consider one of the greatest songwriters of all time but sounds like it took him all of 5 minutes to write.

Maybe you can survive the roughly three-and-a-half minutes it takes to play through if you take it for what it is: a bouncy, up-beat, late 70's song about a happy holiday. Or maybe just change the station.

Last Christmas – Wham!

Norma Munoz
Last Christmas... not very chrismassy

Hmmm, let's see:

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away

What’s more Christmassy than regifting?

Feliz Navidad – Jose Feliciano

Elvia Jimenez
Feliz Navidad…it’s like the song that never ends

It clocks in at 3 minutes, but yeah. Admit it, though, you catch yourself singing along every time, don’t you? Maybe this adorable rendition will redeem the song.

All I Want for Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey

It’s hard to get through the holiday season without hearing Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” about a thousand times, and apparently the majority of listeners who replied to my question would rather hear the three above on a loop than Mariah’s modern Christmas classic one more time.

I'm not a Christmas song hater by any definition, but when you've been playing them every year as long as I have, and you're pretty much a captive audience when they come on, as I am, you have a whole new appreciation for the volume control.

But when this one comes on, I'm cranking it up to "11". It's one of a handful of Christmas songs I look forward to playing every year.

Obviously, your mileage on Mariah may vary.
