The Reno Aces scored seven early runs against El Paso starter Burch Smith in their 11-1 victory over the Chihuahuas on Saturday. Home plate umpire Nick Bailey ejected El Paso players Alex Castellanos, Cameron Maybin and Jorge Reyes at different points in the game, all for arguing balls and strikes. Reyes’s ejection in the sixth inning was the first in Chihuahuas team history.
El Paso’s lone run came on Jake Lemmerman’s RBI double in the seventh inning, his first Triple-A hit and RBI. Reno outfielder Roger Kieschnick led the Aces’ attack, going 4-for-5 with three doubles, a home run and three RBIs. Seven Aces had multi-hit games. Reno pounded 17 hits as a team.
Hector Ambriz and Leonel Campos each had scoreless outings out of the El Paso bullpen.
