The Albuquerque Isotopes scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to come back and beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 7-6Thursday in the completion of Wednesday’s rain-suspended game. Albuquerque outfielder Brian Cavazos-Galvez hit a bases-loaded double in the bottom of the ninth to score the tying and winning runs.

 

Jeff Francoeur’s RBI single through a drawn-in infield in the top of the seventh broke a 4-4 tie and put the Chihuahuas ahead. Tyler Greene hit a two-out, RBI double in the top of the eighth to give the Chihuahuas a two-run lead. Albuquerque’s four hits in the game-winning rally was the first time in Hector Ambriz’s 40 games this season he’s allowed more than three hits in an outing.

 

Greene and Chris Nelson each went 3-for-4 in the loss for El Paso. Bobby LaFromboise and Dennis O’Grady both had scoreless outings out of the El Paso bullpen. The Chihuahuas had been 40-0 in games when leading after eight innings.

The El Paso Chihuahuas collected 13 hits in their 8-7 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes in Game 2 Thursday. It was a seven-inning game.

 

The Isotopes tied the game twice, once after falling behind 4-0 and another time after trailing 7-4, but Alex Castellanos’ RBI single in the top of the sixth put the Chihuahuas ahead to stay. The Chihuahuas defensive play of the game came in the bottom of the seventh inning. After Casio Grider led off the inning with a double, putting the tying run in scoring position in the bottom of the last inning, catcher Rocky Gale picked him off after the second pitch to the next hitter.

 

Jace Peterson went 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Jeff Francoeur went 4-for-4 with two RBIs. The Chihuahuas have split all four of their 2014 doubleheaders.
