The El Paso Chihuahuas overcame a six-run deficit to beat the Tacoma Rainiers 11-10 Saturday night at Southwest University Park. It was the third time this season the Chihuahuas won a game after trailing by six runs or more. El Paso has now won three games in a row and six of its last eight.

 

Trailing 8-2, the Chihuahuas scored five times in a nine-batter bottom of the sixth to get within one run. Brooks Conrad’s three-run home run highlighted the rally, his team-leading 11th homer of the season. Conrad went 4-for-5 with a walk and fell a triple shy of a cycle. El Paso scored three times in the bottom of the eighth in another nine-batter inning. Tyler Greene’s RBI single tied the game and Jace Peterson’s bases-loaded single put El Paso ahead to stay.

 

Catcher Rocky Gale went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and now has nine hits in his last three games played. Peterson went 4-for-6 with two RBIs.

 

El Paso collected 20 hits as a team, the most in the team’s 57-game history. The Chihuahuas entered Saturday in exclusive holding of second place for the first time since April 14th and with Saturday’s win and a Las Vegas loss, advanced to 7.5 games out of first place.
