When the CDC announced last week that only those people who have not been vaccinated would need to wear a mask outdoors as well as indoors, the chain reaction was felt almost immediately. For MountainStar Sports Group, suddenly they were able to resume on field promotions with fans and relax the mask requirement inside Southwest University Park.

Today, MSSG announced that they have updated their mask policy, effective immediately. Facial coverings will no longer be required at all events at Southwest University Park for ticketed guests who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Masks are still recommended for guests who have not been vaccinated.

I can relate to both sides to this breaking story. There are still plenty of people who are not comfortable sitting in a packed stadium next to a fan not wearing a mask and unsure of whether or not that person was vaccinated. If that is the case, those fans should either still wear a mask or ask an usher if they can move to a socially distant area in the ballpark. If they still do not feel safe, my next best recommendation is to spend the $40 and watch every Chihuahuas game on MILB.com instead of being at the stadium.

On the flip side, there are many who are fully vaccinated that are tired of wearing a facial covering to outdoor events and will find today's news a welcoming sign for things to come. For those fans, congratulations and enjoy every ballgame or match.

Locomotive FC will be home Saturday night to host Rio Grande Valley FC in a key USL match while the Chihuahuas are back home starting next Thursday night to welcome Oklahoma City to Southwest University Park.
