Bravos de FC Juarez began their participation in this year's edition of Copa MX with a draw to second division opponent Venados FC. The 1-1 tie in this midweek competition was without a doubt more beneficial to Venados who left the Borderland with one point in their back pocket on their way back to the Yucatan peninsula.

The Bravos opened up the scoring line in the first half of the match when Edu Perez received a pass inside the opposing goalbox and lobbed the ball past the Venados goalkeeper in the 30th minute of play. It was a first half were the hosting FC Juarez side was the better team on the field of play.

The second half would get off to to a quick start when Francisco Paul Uscanga would move the ball up the right flank unmarked and as he was approaching the Bravos goalbox decided to take a right footed strike that would get past Enrique Palos for the the Venados equalizer.

And while the Vendados might have been the team that dominated the second half, it would be the team from the Borderland that would have the most dangerous opportunity to score the game winning goal in the closing minutes of the match but that opportunity was missed when the shot went over the crossbar.

Up next for the Bravos will be a return to league play as they travel to Mexico City to face Cruz Azul at Azteca Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a game that is scheduled to kickoff at 4pm MST.
