Bravos de FC Juarez was defeated in a road match last night 2-1 by Club Atletico Zacatepec in a midweek league match of the Ascenso MX League. This most recent defeat for the Bravos is their fourth of the 2019 clausura season (3 wins, 1 draw and 4 loses) who have accumulated 10 points this season thus far. After 8 matches, this team is far cry from last season's team that pretty much lead in the general standings table from wire to wire and was the number one seed in the playoffs.

FC Juarez went down 2-0 in the first half of the match. In the 30th minute the Bravos defense did not account for Jose Javier Cortez as he was left unmarked on a favorable bounce for Zacatepec and he did not hesitate to take a right footed strike from inside the Bravos goalbox to get the ball in the upper right corner of the goal. Twelve minutes later the Bravos defense would fail to clear the ball from the danger zone and Kevin Magana would push the ball into the back of the net for the home side.

The team from the Borderland would score their lone goal in the 87 minute when star forward Leandro Carrijo would score off of a penalty kick.

This loss moves the Bravos back down in the general standings table to 12th place, 3 points out of the 8th and final playoff position. It is important to remember that the Bravos have only played 8 matches this season and have a regular season match pending versus Dorados de Sinaloa back from week 3. This match will be made up on Saturday, March 23rd when the rest of the league will be on FIFA break.

Up next for the Bravos will be a home league match versus Potros UAEM on Sunday March 10th at Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 5pm MST.
