Bravos de FC Juarez is looking to improve tonight at Xolos de Tijuana in their second match of the 2022 Apertura season. The Bravos are coming off a scoreless draw last Saturday at Chivas. A point on the road is always good and for FC Juarez this is particularly the case. After all, they are a team who is trying to improve in every aspect after last season where the Bravos were the worst team in Liga BBVA MX.

The FC Juarez front office worked vigorously during a preseason that was shorter than usual due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup being held November 21st-December 18th. In the abbreviated off season the Bravos hired a new head coach in Hernan Cristante and were one of the clubs that acquired the most players (over half a dozen and rumors are that the front office is not done yet).

In their season opener against Chivas, the rust of a new team was evident. Still, the Bavos settled in and improved over the course of the match and finished the season opener being the better team creating more threats on goal than the home side.

Defender Maxi Olivera certainly saw it that way saying, “The team looked good, about what you would expect from a mostly new team, a team that is learning the new coach’s system. The first half was difficult, the truth is Chivas took control of the ball and pushed us back into our defensive zone. The second have we improved, and it was noticeable. Toward the end of the match we were closer to scoring than they were.”

Olivera concluded by saying, “There was a lot of positives, still there is a lot to improve on.”

What’s next

Up next for the Bravos will be another away match at Tijuana tonight. The Xolos are coming off a season opening draw as well. They tied 1-1 at Pumas last Sunday.

The last time these two teams met the Xolos defeated Bravos by the score of 1-0 back in March.

Both teams are coming off of dismal seasons, so tonight’s match promises to be intense as both teams will be looking for their first win of the season.

Tonight’s match is scheduled to kickoff at 8pm and will be televised on Fox Sports Deportes.
