With the school year underway, a new report details the best school districts in our area.

The list was released by the research company Niche, which specializes in analyzing public data and reviews “to produce comprehensive rankings, report cards, and profiles for every K-12 school [and] college…in the U.S.”

According to its 6th Annual Best Schools rankings report, the Ysleta Independent School District is the best in El Paso. Of the 10 school districts in and around El Paso, YISD was the only one to achieve an “A” letter grade, placing them at the top.

Socorro ISD, which tied for the top spot with YISD last year, took a bit of a hit and slid down to a second place tie with Canutillo. Both were given a B+. The largest district in the area, El Paso ISD, scored a B resulting in a #3 ranking alongside Anthony ISD. The lowest score by any district in the area was a C minus.

Ranking factors used included state test scores, graduation rates, and SAT/ACT scores as well as more subjective criteria, such as survey responses and reviews from parents, students and Niche users.
