All the Ways El Paso is Celebrating Dia de los Muertos on Oct. 29
The city’s largest Day of the Dead festival returns to downtown El Paso on Saturday, Oct. 29. The day-long event will include the popular and highly anticipated Dia de los Muertos parade.
Contrary to its name, Day of the Dead is more joyous than macabre. It’s a day of celebration that is far from a gloomy affair, and there’s no better example than the event sponsored by the City of El Paso.
Dia de los Muertos 2022
The event will include a special Downtown Art & Farmers Market, a variety of free hands-on activities and live performances hosted by the El Paso Museum of Art, El Paso Museum of History and the El Paso Museum of Archaeology.
Live entertainment in San Jacinto Plaza, themed streetcar programming, and a festive parade will also be part of the day-long celebration to honor our dearly departed.
Dia del los Muertos Parade
The parade will feature a cavalcade of catrinas, catrins, calaveras, community floats, and larger-than-life marionettes and Mojigangas.
It will get underway at 4 p.m. The parade route will be different this year, traveling north on Santa Fe St., turning right on E. Franklin Avenue, right on N. Mesa in front of San Jacinto Plaza, and then right on W. Mills.
