UTEP senior guard Omega Harris is one of 10 players named to the Conference USA Men’s Basketball Preseason Team. His appointment was announced on Thursday.
The 6-3, 175-pound Harris has scored 1,041 points in 88 games with the Miners (11.8 ppg). He has made 128 three-point field goals, seventh-most in school history. With 96 steals, he needs five to make UTEP’s all-time top-15 list.
Harris was third team All-League a year ago after averaging a team-best 17 points per outing. He scored in double figures a team-leading 29 times and had a 16-game double-figure scoring streak, longest by a Miner in six years, at one point of the season. His nine 20-point games were the most by a UTEP player in seven years, and he led UTEP in scoring a team-leading 14 times.
Joining Harris on the team are Charlotte’s Jon Davis, LA Tech’s Jacobi Boykins and Daquan Bracey, Marshall’s Jon Elmore, Middle Tennessee’s Giddy Potts, Old Dominion’s Ahmad Caver, UAB’s Chris Cokley and William Lee and WKU’s Justin Johnson.
The Miners will host Sul Ross State in their exhibition opener on Saturday (Oct. 28) at 1 p.m.
