As bad the the UTEP basketball team looked a month ago at the Old Spice Classic in Orlando, they looked equally good in their four games this week.

It started Monday with a 62-60 loss to nationally ranked UNLV.  On Wednesday, the Miners downed Oregon 91-84 in a triple overtime thriller.

Last night, the Miners coasted to an 83-61 win over Arkansas Pine Bluff in their opener at the Sun Bowl Invitational.  UTEP capped off their 3-1 week with a 68-52 win over Nebraska in the tournament finale.

UTEP jumped out to a 13-0 lead and never looked back.  Guards Jacques Streeter and Konner Tucker led the way for the Miners with seventeen points each.  Tucker was selected tournament MVP while Streeter was named to the all-tournament team.  In all, ten Miners netted points in the win.

UTEP shot nearly 50% from the field and beyond the arc, and outrebounded Nebraska 35-29.  The Miners turned on the clamps on defense yet again, holding the Cornhuskers to 37.3% shooting from the field.

The Miners will enjoy a Christmas break before taking on Cameron College in an exhibition game on Friday, December 28th.
