Joe Banyard celebrated his birthday in grand fashion, as the senior running back scored on a 78-yard run in the fourth quarter to give UTEP a lead it would not relinquish. The result is that the Miners are one win away from bowl eligibility for a second straight year.

Quarterback Carson Meger also came in for injured starter, Nick Lamaison, and did well. The sophomore led UTEP on all scoring drives, save the first -- a pick-six by Darren Woodard.

A jubilant head coach, Mike Price, and the Miners talked about the win, UTEP's first over East Carolina.
