The big news from college football is that USC coach Lane Kiffin has finally been fired. Athletic director Pat Haden dismissed Kiffin after the Trojans lost 62-41 against Arizona State University. Ed Orgeron has been named interim coach.

When Isaac Hamilton's family told the LA Times Saturday that he wanted UTEP to let him out of his National Letter of Intent because of his ailing grandmother, something about that excuse did not sound right. Many college players have sick family members, but few will leave a university to stay closer to home...

A man's word is supposed to be what he lives by.  In Isaac Hamilton's case, he signed a National Letter of Intent to play for UTEP, which is his word and a binding agreement saying that he will play for the Miners.

Maybe it was just too good to be true. According to the LA Times, UTEP's prized recruit, Isaac Hamilton has asked out of his Letter of Intent and wants to enroll at USC. The irony with Hamilton's sudden decision is that USC is where Tim Floyd coached before joining the Miners...

Miners head coach Tim Floyd talked about UTEP's 56-54 loss to the No. 252 Memphis Tigers for awhile, then offered a brief statement on the LA Times story in which he stated he talked with USC athletic director Pat Haden about the Trojans' head coaching job.
