UTEP football defeated Southern Miss (26-14) on the road for the first time since 2012.

The Miners will enter Saturday's road C-USA opener against Southern Miss, vying for a 5-1 start for the first time in 11 years.

Three straight losses for the Miners (1-3, 0-1 C-USA) and not a lot of answers for this young season gives UTEP a frustrating start to their season. Hosting a UTSA squad that also lost three consecutive games could be just what the Miners need to rebound.

Another uninspiring outing by the defense left us with more questions than answers moving forward for the Miners following their 31-13 loss to Southern Miss.

Questionable offensive play calls along with the defense allowing too many big plays turned UTEP's Conference USA opener against Southern Miss upside down, as the Miners (1-3) left Hattiesburg, Miss. with an unfulfilling 31-13 road loss.

UTEP committed four turnovers, including three interceptions, as Southern Miss rolled over the Miners 39-7 on "Senior Day."
