Before the season started I noted the convergence of prophesies stating that the Dodgers were on their way to something less than the best record in baseball by Mid-May. A season is a marathon not a sprint, and there’s a long way to go until October. Even so, Dodger fans have got to be pretty thrilled with how things are unfolding. Fresh off his first NL MVP award, Milwaukee Brewers’ star outfielder Ryan Braun is in hot water after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug, and he could be hit with a 50-game suspension at the start of the 2012 campaign. Braun maintains that he’s innocent of the charge.

The Baseball Writers’ Association of America voted Milwaukee Brewers’ outfielder Ryan Braun National League MVP. He edged out Los Angeles Dodger Matt Kemp after lifting the club to the Central Division title, and Braun’s teammate, pending free agent Prince Fielder, finished third.

Detroit Tigers’ pitcher Justin Verlander, just days removed from winning the American League Cy Young Award, was named the American League MVP.
