In a back-and-forth second half, the Miners prevailed thanks to a late touchdown drive and a few defensive stops, beating Old Dominion 28-21 to open Conference USA play.
The Miners had six players score in double figures, as UTEP cruised to a season-opening 100-81 victory over UTPB in an empty Don Haskins Center on Wednesday night.
UTEP hit the gridiron on Saturday for the first time in three weeks and the Miners were completely out-matched against UT-San Antonio, losing their third straight game, 52-24 in San Antonio.
