The Coronado Thunderbirds desperately needed a win last night after losing to Midland 38-14 in week 0.  The T-Birds defeated former district 1-5a rival Hanks 41-7 in a game shortened due to lightning.

There was a time in this city when Andress and Irvin battled for bragging rights in the northeast side of town.  The Chapin Huskies may be the newest kid on the block, but they have quickly become perennial contenders for the 1-4A crown.

For the uninitiated, the first week of the UIL Texas high school football schedule is known as zero week.  Even thought this is technically the second week of play this is week one.  Now that that's out of the way lets get to the matchups.
