Three years ago, Eddy Rodriguez was a catcher for the El Paso Diablos. Yesterday, he made history homering in his first big-league at bat. Rodriguez, now a member of the San Diego Padres, teed off on a Johnny Cueto slider for his first career homer as a major leaguer.

In nearly 25 years of broadcasting Minor League baseball, Matt Hicks has had only one goal: to make it to the Big Leagues. You might say that Hicks is the Crash Davis of broadcasters; a guy who refuses to leave the business because he is still pursuing his dream.

A few weeks ago, I predicted that the El Paso Diablos would start winning games because their pitching was much improved from last season. Unfortunately, my prognostication could not be further from the truth.
