After a five week run at the top, the El Dorado Aztecs lost their number one ranking with a 32-20 loss to Montwood. The Burges Mustangs continue to impress. They improved to 5-0 with the win over Austin.

After four weeks of play I don't know what the biggest surprise is; Coronado is 0-3, Burges is 3-0, or Eastwood is 2-1. The season is three weeks old, and the usual suspects are establishing their superiority. Burges continues to impress, as predicted by Tony and Andy.

The season is still early, but some trends are starting to show. Americas, El Dorado, Franklin, and Montwood look like they will be the cream of 1-5A. Riverside is as exciting as anyone. Burges and Horizon look like they will be for real, while Austin appears to be on the way back. Del Valle should climb back up the rankings. Traditional powers Coronado and Canutillo are struggling to find offense.

For the uninitiated, the first week of the UIL Texas high school football schedule is known as zero week.  Even thought this is technically the second week of play this is week one.  Now that that's out of the way lets get to the matchups.
