The 2018 high school football regular season came to an end on Friday night as teams were playing for district titles and playoff seeding. The Austin Panthers hosted Burges at R.E. McKee Stadium on a cool, windy November evening to determine who would solidify the number two seed in District 2-5A...
The Chapin Huskies looked to make a statement to open the defense of their District 1-4A crown. It took coach Rene Hernandez's squad until the fourth quarter to do it, but eventually the Huskies' athleticism wore down the Burges Mustangs earning Chapin its first win of the season, 26-14.

Homecoming brings drama and Mustang Stadium was filled with it Oct. 7.
Facing the Jefferson Foxes, the Mustangs dug themselves into a massive hole. Heading into the fourth quarter, Burges found itself down 21-6, and quickly running out of time.
Burges survived a scare from a very game Jefferson squad to remain undefeated. Franklin looks like the class of 1-5A after their 38-17 win over Montwood. Horizon turned some heads with a 17-0 home shutout over Canutillo.

The underdog is now the target.
After beating Andress last week, the Mustangs travel to McKee Stadium tonight to take on the Austin Panthers (2-2, 0-1) and try to keep their win streak alive.
Coronado and Franklin battle every year for west side supremacy. With all due respect to the up and coming Americas Trailblazers, the east side goes through Montwood and El Dorado.........for now. Separated by less than four miles, this game has become a neighborhood rivalry.
It's hard to believe, but the 2011 high school season is nearly a month old. I am incredibly excited for the game of the week. For one week the 5A superpowers are taking a backseat to the two oldest schools in the city. For the 80th time El Paso High and Austin will battle each other for the Claw.

Andress ended their night in disappointment last friday as Chapin walked away the winner of the district 1-4A season opener.
"We were determined to win and we had a good chance but we did not perform," running back Rashad Chisholm said.

Walking into the Burges football locker room, the mission is clear. The words, “Payback Tour 2011” hang on the white board, and players can’t miss it.
Cathedral High School was the first on the “tour” schedule. Burges paid back the Irish in a 35-7 win after losing to them last year.
