In a stunning turn of events, Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott announced last night that the league would not expand.

The idealist in me would love to believe Scott was attempting to be the voice of reason in this football and television driven era of conference expansion.

The cynics and those 'in the know' will have us believe the Pac-12 and Texas couldn't reach a revenue sharing agreement that satisfied both parties.

Whatever the case may be, I am relieved that Scott decided to let things simmer before shifting the landscape of college athletics yet again.

Super conferences do seem inevitable at this point, but I pray blind greed and panic doesn't force a lot of rational people to make irrational decisions.
