On Saturday afternoon, the Old Dominion Monarchs pulled away from the UTEP Miners, outscoring the Miners 14-6 in the second half en route to a 31-21 victory in front of a sold-out S.B. Ballard Stadium. The Monarchs' defense was able to shut down the Miners offense in the second half. And the offense had 196 yards of total offense, including 78 yards on the ground in the second half.

UTEP quarterback Mack Leftwich threw three touchdowns and passed for 193 yards. But overall, the offense couldn't seem to get anything really going in the second half. With the loss the Miners need to win their last two games remaining to become bowl eligible.

The Miners play their last home game of the season next Saturday at the Sun Bowl when they take on Louisiana Tech at 1 p.m.
