A few cosmetology student’s from El Paso Community College used their talents and skills to put a smile on cancer survivors.
El Paso Community College (EPCC) Cosmetology Department hosted their annual 'Power of Pink' event, bringing together the talents of students and the support of local health partners to provide beauty makeovers for cancer survivors.
In collaboration with University Medical Center (UMC), Providence Hospital, Del Sol Medical Center, William Beaumont Breast Cancer Awareness Program, and the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation, EPCC offered cancer survivors a day of pampering.
A day of Pampering and More:
The survivors received personalized beauty makeovers, including hairstyling, makeup, and nails, all skillfully done by EPCC students.
After their transformations, they were treated to professional photo sessions, snacks, and gifts provided by generous sponsors.
“I feel very blessed and overwhelmed with the love and support. I feel like a woman, and it’s wonderful,” said Daniela Barton, a cancer survivor who participated in the event.
The event is not only a celebration of beauty but also an educational experience for the students
“It’s always positive. Listening is really important for our students because they learn how to address any circumstances and understand how our field makes guests feel important and appreciate our work,” shared EPCC Nail Technology Instructor Graciela Roman.
