Sunday afternoon, a group of storm chasers got the surprise of a lifetime in Silverton, Texas, as they witnessed a tornado that left them speechless. Laura Hedien, a seasoned storm chaser, documented this jaw-dropping event between Lubbock and Amarillo, and the footage is jaw-dropping.
Hedien’s video, just 38 seconds long, shows a thunderstorm swirling in a crop field before a massive twister touches down in the open farmland. The sheer power and size of the tornado left everyone in awe.
One of the storm chasers can be heard exclaiming, “I have not seen something like this,” as they watched the tornado rage on for a full 20 minutes. Another marveled at the tornado’s “gorgeous” form, while excited shouts of “God bless America” and “Holy cow” echoed in the background. One hopeful chaser added, “I hope no one was out there.”
