One of our area’s most unique holiday lights display is a short road trip away from El Paso.

It’s called Christmas on the Pecos, where the Christmas-obsessed can hop on a boat for a magical evening of twinkling Yuletide splendor in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Why check out decked-out homes from a car when you can see them from a boat?

More Than Just a Boat Ride

For the uninitiated, the 40-minute tours take you past homes, backyards, and boat docks along the Pecos River decorated in their Christmas best creating a shimmering effect on the water that will leave you awestruck.

It’s kind of like the slow drive through Eastridge, but instead of cruising in your car, you’re gliding on a boat along a watery wonderland of breathtaking estates adorned in festive multi-colored lights and one-of-a-kind holiday light displays.

If a boat ride through shimmering waters and twinkling light displays isn't enough to sell you on 6-hour round trip, Christmas on the Pecos also features a Christmas Village with vendors, and depending on the weekend you visit, Christmas movies on an outdoor big screen, fireworks, and hot air balloons.
