Of all the places where a world-class rose garden could be found, El Paso seems an unlikely city to find one in.

The Sun City is hot, dusty, and there's not a whole lot of green around -- monsoon weeds aside.

But not only is there a four-acre world-class rose garden inside our city limits, it’s now open and almost ready to showcase its springtime blooms.

The El Paso Municipal Rose Garden is one of our city's more beautiful public areas and a hidden gem worthy of your discovery.

Those looking to walk among nature will find an unlikely mini oasis in the middle of the city that features a small waterfall, Koi Pond, over 400 types of roses, and an average of 1,500 rose bushes.

Not only is it visually stunning and a peaceful place to sit and Zen out for a bit, it is also one of only 117 certified rose gardens in the entire United States.

When you need an escape from the ubiquitous desert xeriscapes heavy on the red rocks and cacti, I highly recommend that you pay the rose garden in Central El Paso a visit.

It's free and open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

But if Instagram-perfect roses and flower-filled selfies is what you’re looking for, then April-May is the best time to visit as that is peak time for the spring blooms.
