19 bodies have been pulled from an Austin lake. Police insist that there is no serial killer at large while friends and family members of the dead think otherwise.

Lady Bird Lake, near Austin, Texas, has had bodies pulled out of it for decades. Boating accidents, drownings, etc have claimed many lives. In recent years though, a surge in the number of bodies found has many suspecting there's a serial killer at large.

The killer has been dubbed the "Rainey Street Ripper" by locals because of nearby Rainey Street. An area near the lake loaded with popular bars and restaurants.

The most recent body found was a 17 year old who vanished after stepping off an underwater ledge. Since 2022, there have been a total of 19 bodies found in Lady Bird Lake, according to the Austin Police Department.

While the cops say there is no serial killer, a number of Facebook groups say that there is and a Change.org petition got over 6,000 signatures demanding a deeper investigation of these deaths.

The Austin Police Department told Newsweek: "The deaths of these individuals are not considered suspicious due to the results of these investigations. There are a variety of factors leading into each death, including suicide, natural causes like heart attacks, inability to swim, impairment due to alcohol or drugs, and a variety of mental illnesses."

Still though, the rumors grow, there is more and more suspicion of a law enforcement coverup of some kind and the body count is huge.
