Texas Now Has The Only Floating Pool In North America
I know, I know - things are just bigger and better in Texas. Even our swimming pools are special.
I had never heard of a "floating" pool ... turns out, they don't all even actually float ... but this is a pretty cool idea and Texas has, (for now), the only one in North America.
"Floating pools" are a European concept developed to allow peeps to enjoy otherwise "inhospitable" lakes and rivers. Areas with heavy boat traffic, no comfy shoreline to kick back on or that, sadly, are way polluted. You just build a really kick ass pool, with an equally awesome deck area, in the chosen location.
The Texas pool is modeled after the one at Villa d’Este on Lake Como in Italy, one of Forbes top 5 pools worth visiting. A list that also includes a lazy river, shaped like Texas, on the roof of a Marriott in Houston, Texas. The "floater" in Texas is at Horseshoe Bay Resort, near Austin.
Other amenities at Horseshoe Bay include a private jet center, three golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and a signature Jack Nicklaus member-only course, a marina, spa, and volleyball courts.
A go-to destination for family vacations in Texas, the resort also has an on-water Splash Safari Aqua Park with soft-sided inflatable, jungle gym equipment to bounce around on.
The resort’s waterfront beach has sand volleyball courts, a food truck, sand bar, kayak and paddleboard rentals, and, on summer weekend nights, beach parties with a DJ and and games like spikeball, Frisbee, volleyball, giant Jenga, cornhole, and sandcastle-building contests. - Forbes
Sounds pretty sweet, huh? You can make reservations here.
Another nice thing about this floating pool is, you don't have to worry about these guys.
