Soldiers in west Texas, smuggling illegal aliens into the United States of America, tried to outrun the Border Patrol. It didn't exactly go as they had planned ...

I don't know much about life in the United States Army but I'm pretty sure this is against orders. Really, just about anything that is illegal on or off post is frowned upon as committing a crime is a violation of the oath of enlistment.

The oath includes a part about following the Uniform Code Of Military Justice which covers just about every crime and means soldiers swear they will not commit crime(s). These guys forgot that part.

3 soldiers from Fort Cavazos have pled guilty to charges of migrant smuggling after they tried to dodge a Border Patrol checkpoint near Marfa, about 194 miles east of El Paso.

On the evening of Nov. 27, a Border Patrol agent monitoring a known smuggling hot spot saw a black GMC SUV coming and going on the only hard surface road between Lajitas and Presidio. Presidio is on the border with Ojinaga, Chihuahua.

The ensuing, high speed chase resulted in an accident in which a Border Patrol agent was injured when the soldiers hit the agents marked vehicle.

Several people ran away but one of the soldiers, a Mexican citizen and 2 Guatemalans were caught. Another soldier was busted in an Odessa hotel room. The EP Times article didn't say where soldier #3 was caught.
