Sunland Park, New Mexico is about to really ramp things up entertainment-wise with a new, monster venue that could be a big help to local musicians.

With the exception of Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino, Sunland Park never really had much going on. In 2006, Western Playland moved in.

Since then, a number of dispensaries have popped up in Sunland Park and now there's about to be a lot more going on for artists, fans and peeps just looking for something fun to do in and around the Borderland.

Independent Nation is scheduled to open next year and will host all kinds of events including festivals, concerts, sporting events and MMA fights as well as bars, restaurants and a new dispensary. It will be located, fittingly, at 420 Sunland Park Dr.

This all sounds way cool but, for me, the best part is how Independent Nation sees it helping local talent. One of the partners in this venture, Amit Bijlani, wants one of the main focuses to be helping locals grow.

Bijlani said that a common issue local musicians face is an inability to grow their audience past a certain point, largely down to the fact there are no mid-sized venues capable of accommodating a band that can fill a 1,500-capacity room, but hasn't yet reached the levels of a venue that seats 5,000. - KFOXTV

Very cool. If you want to know more about Independent Nation and join their "club" ... which gets you things like early ticket access, discounts, VIP experiences, early concert  announcements, etc ... click here.
